SIE Overview: 

• The Securities Industry Essentials® (SIE®) Exam is a FINRA exam for prospective securities industry professionals. This introductory-level exam assesses a candidate’s knowledge of basic securities industry information, including concepts fundamental to working in the industry, such as types of products and their risks; the structure of the securities industry markets, regulatory agencies, and their functions; and prohibited practices.

• The SIE is open to anyone aged 18 or older, including students and prospective candidates interested in demonstrating basic industry knowledge to prospective employers. Association with a firm is not required to take the SIE, and results are valid for four years.

Guidelines - 

• Fully commit to studying for the SIE during winter break (2025) before the Spring 2026 semester begins

• Take the exam by the beginning of the Spring 2026 semester

• Payment will only be disbursed after sending proof of passing to esr63@txstate.edu

• Scholarship will be revoked and offered to another FMA member if not taken by the date above

• If the student fails the first exam, they have to contact ecq12@txstate.edu to define next steps

This is a merit-based scholarship, as we want driven students who want to learn and further their careers in finance to apply. The Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) is the introductory FINRA exam that is to be taken by any financial professional upon graduation. Taking this exam as a collegiate student, propels your career and qualifications further, as you compete for internship/job opportunities.
